1. Is there a difference in alcohol consumption between males and females?
I wanted to know if there is a difference in alcohol consumption between males
and females. I have asked and collected samples of n=10 males and calculated a
mean as M=7 with an SS=18 and n=10 females and calculated a mean as M=5
with an SS=14 on how much alcohol they consume.
2. Null Hypothesis(H0): There is no difference in alcohol consumption between
males and females
Alternative Hypothesis(H1): There is a difference in alcohol consumption
between males and females
-Using an alpha level of 0.05 with a two-tailed test and a total df of 18, I
conducted a critical value of t= 2.101 and t= -2.101 with a t statistic value of 3.33
(Reject H0).
3. After I calculated the estimated cohen’s d I got an answer of 1.50 (very large).
When I calculated r2 I got an answer of 0.38 (large)
4. After calculating my 95% confidence interval I got [0.74, 3.26]
5. Males (M=7, SS=18) reported significantly higher amounts of alcohol consumed
