The purpose of this presentation is to challenge you to uncover any unconscious biases you might have towards a specific population as a counselor.

Create a presentation of 5-10 slides on a specific cultural population that you would find difficult to work with. Include the following in your presentation:

• Explain a specific cultural population (ethnic, racial, religious, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) that would be difficult for you to work with and why.
• Discuss whether your individual cultural and spiritual beliefs impact your bias (unconscious or conscious) towards the identified population.
• Discuss why it would not be appropriate to refer your client to another counselor based on the sole purpose of your cultural differences. Refer to the ACA and NAADAC code of ethics in your response.
• Describe which tools, resources, or approaches you might utilize to better prepare yourself in counseling a client from your chosen population.
• Utilize at least three scholarly resources using in-text citations and a reference list using APA formatting guidelines.

Title slide and reference slide are not included in the slide count. Include speaker notes below each content-related slide that represent what would be said if giving the presentation in person. Expand upon the information included in the slide and do not simply restate it. Please ensure the speaker notes include 50-100 words.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
