The termination of an employee by an employer can be either good or bad and for any reason. As long as that reason is not discriminatory. The at-will term doesn’t apply to contract employees who are hired to work a certain length of time. United States is one of the few countries who allow this at-will policy. Many other countries require that an employer has to show just cause to terminate an employee. When working for a company, it should be stated in the employee handbook whether or not that company is an at-will company.
