➢ FORMAT
Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 2.0.
➢ TOPIC SELECTION FOR RESEARCH PROPOSAL:
You may choose a relevant leadership style and/or problem of interest.
1
➢ RESEARCH PROPOSAL MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. Title Page
2. Introduction: (CLO3)
Present your reasoning for your project including what has been found in past research studies.
Usually, the introduction begins with a brief paragraph that introduces the research
question/problem and why it is important to study. The question/problem is then described in more
detail using past research and theory to illustrate various points. In the last paragraphs, the
researcher rephrases the problem and briefly describes how he/she plans to explore the problem
(listing independent and dependent variables).
3. Research Problem, Objectives, and Significance of the Study (CLO3)
The ultimate goal of a statement of the problem is to transform a generalized problem into a
targeted, well-defined problem; one that can be resolved through focused research and careful
decision-making. Writing a statement of the problem should help you to identify the purpose of
the research project you will propose clearly. Often, the statement of the problem will also serve
as the basis for the introductory section of your final project, directing your reader’s attention
quickly to the issues that your project will address and providing the reader with a concise
statement of the project itself.
The Significance of the Study describes what contribution your study will make to the broad
literature or set of broad educational problems upon completion. You will draft the Significance of
the Study by determining how readers will benefit or learn from your study. Broadly, a component
of the significance of the study is to illustrate the contribution that your study will make to the
existing literature and/or to existing real-life/practical problem areas. Specifically, a component of
the significance of the study is to determine who benefits from the study and how that specific
audience will benefit from its findings. What contribution will your study make to the literature or
the field?

4. Literature Review: (CLO3&4)
This should include at least 20 journal articles, which must be dated between 2020 and 2023 and
be original empirical studies. This literature review should include a review of the theoretical
perspective(s) on which you will base your hypotheses as well as a review of relevant research.
Make sure to explain each theory and study and clearly state how each applies to your research
question(s). Wikipedia and other non-authoritative internet are NOT ACCEPTABLE; do not
include such sources in the proposal.
5. Research Methodology: (CLO4)
Present a detailed plan of how you propose to carry out your study. Include a description of your
participants, the design of the study, and the procedure.
•
•
•
•
•
Participants. Sample of the proposed participant (or subject), Sample Size, and
Demographics (age, gender, and other individual difference variables important to your
study).
Study design. Explain why you chose this particular design. What are the advantages and
limitations of your chosen design?
Measures you will use. If you are using a measure that has been validated, cite the author
and describe the measure. Otherwise operationally define all of your measures.
Procedure. A step-by-step description of where and how to conduct the research so it can
be replicated.
Statistics. Describe the statistics you will use to answer each of your questions. You may
need different statistics for different questions.
6. Reference Page
All sources cited in your project must appear on your reference page using APA style
