Find the “FASB ASC Research Cases” section of your textbook at the end of Chapter 1. Read “FASB ASC 2-8: Using Present Value.” After reading the chapter and this case study, complete the following:
1. Go to asc.fasb.org. Complete the acknowledgment and verifications and find the FASB ASC homepage.
2. Find the guidance in the FASB ASC specified by this case. Copy and paste the guidance into a Microsoft Word document.
3. After reading and reviewing the guidance in the FASB ASC, construct a one-paragraph summary (3-5 sentences, or approximately 100-200 words) of the major points, treatments, and/or issues in the ASC guidance.
4. Find at least one (1) peer-reviewed article/publication or professional article/publication related to the issues addressed in the guidance. A peer-reviewed research article related to the case is preferable, but a professional or practice-focused resource is also acceptable. This resource can be an article focusing on the challenges related to the transaction(s) or events being accounted for, challenges and issues related to implementation of the current guidance in the ASC, or a resource related to emergent issues related to the same area. Provide a link to the article/publication you selected and a 2-3 sentence summary (in your own words) of the major points in the article.
